Ray’s Fetching Meadow is a public dog park located at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition to the dog park, the 114-acre community park is home to a three-acre lake and fishing pier, five soccer fields, bike and nature trails, a gazebo and picnic areas, restrooms, and a self-service recycling center.
The dog park is approximately an acre in size and offers a safe, securely fenced environment for dogs to exercise, socialize, and explore leash-free. It has a very simple layout that consists of a single, spacious area for dogs of all breeds and sizes to enjoy together. Though it might not be ideal for timid or small dogs, it is a great location for dogs that get along with everyone and don’t mind the size difference.Â
Ray’s Fetching Meadow Dog Run at McAlpine Creek Park provides plenty of space for dogs to stretch their legs while at the same time remaining in their owners’ fields of vision. There are also plenty of benches placed throughout the park, allowing owners to remain comfortable throughout their visit.
The park’s surface mainly consists of grass and has a good drainage system in place, resulting in little to no mud unless it rains. Though the dog park might not seem special on paper, the local dog owners love this park as it provides a place for the community dog lovers to meet and socialize while their pooches get their daily dose of leash-free exercise.Â
However, since there aren’t too many trees growing in the off-leash section shade can be limited so keep that in mind when you pick a day to visit. If it’s too sunny for your preference, take your four-legged companion on a leashed walk on one of the many nature trails that run throughout the McAlpine Creek Park, especially the one that loops around a beautiful pond!
