Of note is the fact that though the area is designated for off-leash activity, it is not fenced. All dogs in this section of the park must display a firm commitment to coming when called; otherwise, the dog should remain leashed to ensure his safety. In all other areas of John Barovetto Dog Park, owners are required to keep their dogs on a lead which does not exceed six feet in length. Also, dogs are not permitted within the playground areas reserved for use by children.
This public park is accessible to both dogs and their owners at no cost. A renowned "green belt" state, John Barovetto Park is the perfect spot for families and their dogs to enjoy on a family outing. For those who love to bike, hike, or even take a leisurely stroll. John Barovetto Park's trails offer varied terrain and numerous hiking trails to peruse.
Also housed on the grounds are open grassy spaces suitable for numerous sporting activities and picnic areas. Comprised of seven acres of land in total and situated near to Target, who has also contributed financially to the development and upkeep of the park, there are lots both on the property and near it to meet the needs of all family members, canine or human.
Not known is whether bathrooms, water, or poop bags are provided. However, with Target nearby, public washroom access is possible, and water can be purchased in bottles there. To ensure you have a poop bag when you need it, be sure to bring some with you when you leave home.
The only requirements placed upon owners for use of this space is that all dogs be licensed and current on their rabies vaccination. For those who have not yet obtained a city license, Davis City officials will reduce the cost of licensing for those who provide proof of a spay or neuter. For a great day of off-leash play, bring Fido for a visit to John Barovetto Park Off-Leash Area!
