Located in the Blufflands Landscape Region, this puptacular state park is an ideal place for exploring. Your pup will love sniffing around the hiking trails. Beaver Creek Valley Trail is a 3.5 mile loop that runs alongside Beaver Creek. It's mostly flat and has access to a spur trail that cuts the hike down to a mile, if needed. If your pal wants more of a challenge, check out Switch Back Trail or Plateau Rock Trail. Both of these hikes include steep terrain, but also gorgeous views. Don't forget to bring plenty of drinking water along.
While on the trails, keep your eyes open for wildlife. Critters like deer, fox, raccoons, and wild turkeys live in these parts. Timber rattlesnakes also reside in the park. They are seldom seen, but keep your pupster on the trail just to be on the safe side.
Besides pawsome trails, Beaver Creek Valley State Park also has a campground. Campsites are available for tents and RVs. For a peaceful night's rest, try one of the walk-in sites that are 100-180 yards away from the parking area. Showers are located in the campground and are available during the summer season. Primitive restrooms are open all year long. Your pup will love relaxing by the campfire after a long day of exploring.
Just staying for the day? Bring your lunch and enjoy an outdoor meal in the picnic area. It's located by a lovely stream. The day use area also has a volleyball court and a playground. If you feel like fishing, cast a line in Beaver Creek. The waters are teeming with brown and native brook trout.
