Though the play areas are designated off-leash zones, dogs should remain on a lead when traveling to and from the enclosures as well as in all other areas of the park. Owners should also retain a lead with them at all times. Visitors to this space have noted that the fencing bears some holes and is in need of repair. Should your dog lack a sufficient recall, it is best to keep him leashed when on the property for his own safety.
Access to this public play space is free of charge. There are no bathrooms on-site, and it is unknown if there is a water source on the premises. To ensure that Fido's hydration needs are met, it is suggested that all owners carry a bottle of water and vessel suitable for drinking.Â
Benches are scattered throughout the grounds in relatively shaded areas where owners can relax and enjoy observing their dogs at play. Also not known is if complimentary poop bags are provided at this doggy play haven. Nebraska law mandates that all owners carry bags to pick up and properly dispose of any canine waste materials in a prompt fashion.Â
Park officials require all dogs making use of the park space be current on vaccinations. Though not mandatory for park entrance, it is also highly recommended that all dogs bear the appropriate required state license tag on their collars. For a great day at a great park, bring Fido and the family to Hastings Dog Park!Â
