If your pooch is bouncing off the walls, take them for an off-leash romp at the Black Rock Dog Park! Located within the residents-only Black Rock Park along the Croton River, this doggie play area is a furrific spot to let your pupper blow off steam. The chain-link fence and double-gated entry ensure that canine citizens can safely exercise and play to their heart's content!
You and Fido will find the dog park to the right of the park entrance on Quaker Bridge Road. There aren't any agility obstacles or doggie pools at this no-frills facility, but there is ample room for your furry pal to stretch their legs and chase after a ball. That said, it would be a good idea to bring a ball or frisbee to keep your pooch entertained and really tire them out. If you need to take a break and sit down, there is a picnic table in the middle from which you can watch your charge. Thanks to the park's many trees, most of the area is shaded, so you and your pup can swing by on warm days as well.
Be sure to stoop and scoop if your doggo goes to the bathroom. Always have some pet waste bags in your pocket, as these don't seem to be provided. Be sure to bring your own water, too—your pup will need it after sprinting around the park a few times! It's also impawtant to note that there is no separate section for small canines, so Fido will be mingling with woofers of all sizes.
Keep in mind that aside from being a resident of Croton-on-Hudson, anyone who wishes to use the dog park must also have a permit. Don't forget to drop by the municipal building to get your permit first. The dog park is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 AM to 4 PM, but weekdays can vary depending on season. From April 1st - September 30th, the park is open on Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 8 PM, but from October 1st to March 31st, Monday through Friday hours are 8 AM to 6 PM.Â
