Blue Mounds State Park is in Luverne, Minnesota. Situated on 1,830 acres of property in an area known as the Coteau des Prairies, which is loosely translated as "a hilly prairie upland," this stunning, naturally landscaped facility is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy.
Fur babies are permitted to join their owners in all areas of Blue Mounds State Park; however, they must remain on a lead. There is no designated dog play space nor are there any amenities provided for canine use. To ensure Fido remains well-hydrated, owners should bring drinking water with them to the park.
All canine waste removal is the responsibility of each owner. With this in mind, owners should carry a plentiful supply of poop bags with them to assist them with this task. Blue Mounds State Park is a private recreational center and campground. Entrance to the premises is granted only to those who have obtained a parking permit.
Parking permits are available only in annual allotments and are $35 per annum. Campsites are also housed on the ground and may be accessed via reservation only. There is a corresponding fee for all rentals, but it is not known what the cost of a campsite is at this time. There are many excellent outdoor adventures awaiting each family at Blue Mounds State Park.
Among the most popular activities are camping, hiking, rock climbing, and bird watching. In season, the wildflowers are a sight to behold. Also making their home on the property are herds of bison. Bison Tours are operated from Friday through Sunday each week. Reservations are required, and there is an associated cost with the tour.
Other notable attractions include the Sioux quartzite cliff and the blooming prickly pear cactus. Bathrooms are housed on the grounds for public use. All canine visitors to Blue Mounds State Park must be current on immunizations. A city dog license is also mandatory. Looking for a great new park to explore? Bring Fido and the family to Blue Mounds State Park!
