Boylston Street Playground Off Leash Dog Area

Brookline residents love their pups! They've created the Green Dog Program, an initiative which opens up 14 parks in the area to off leash hours where dogs can explore and romp freely! One of these furbulous areas is at the Boylston Street Playground!

Located on Boylston Street near Leverett Street in this Boston suburb, this playground for the little two-leggeds in your pack features a playground area and an attached, fenced-in field. And from dawn to 9 AM, this field becomes a pup paradise! Unlike some of the other Green Dog Program parks, this one allows off leash hours year round, making it a puptastic stop for local pups who love to play in the wee hours of morning. 

Once inside the field during off leash hours, your dog can ditch the leash and fetch or chase to their hearts content. While there is fencing around most of the field, it is open to the attached playground, so always have your dog under voice control, and the leash in hand. Bring clean-up bags and be sure to leave nothing behind. A water fountain in the playground area is a furbulous place to refill water bottles, or just bring a bowl for your pup. And since this is a densely packed neighborhood, there is no designated parking area for the playground and field. Many residents walk from their homes, or from nearby street parking.

To access this pup play space, you'll need to enroll your dog in the Green Dog Program. Your dog should be currently licensed and fully vaccinated to register, and you can even sign up when you apply or renew your city dog license. The fee for residents and commercial dog walkers is $100 for the calendar year, while non-residents will need to pay $150 to $200. If visiting the city just for a short time, or you are not sure you'd like to join, you can purchase a two-day permit for $5, or a week permit for $10 to try out the Green Dog Program parks. Once registered, you'll get a Green Dog collar tag which must be worn at all times in any of the Brookline off-leash dog areas.
