Description

When Burlington's canine residents need to blow off steam, they need not look further than the Burlington Regional Dog Park! Located in Dankwardt Park, this pawsome puppy playground features 1.4 acres of wide open space for four-legged members of the family to run, sniff, and play without a leash. The facility is completely fenced and double gated to ensure that all park users, including diggers and jumpers, stay within the property.

You and your furry BFF will find the dog park south of the swimming pool, just off Blackhawk Drive. Park rules are posted at the front entrance; be sure to familiarize yourself with them before entering the facility! The dog park is split into two separate areas for large and small doggos, allowing puppers of similar sizes to sprint and socialize with one another. This way, petite pooches don't have to worry about getting jostled or knocked down by the big guys when they're ruffhousing.

Aside from spacious grassy fields, the Burlington Regional Dog Park includes trees for shade, covered bench areas, pet waste stations, and a doggie drinking fountain by the main entrance. Always keep an eye on your charge, especially when they're romping alongside their canine pals; responding quickly is the best way to avoid a puppy quarrel! Of course, don't forget to stoop and scoop if Fido goes to the bathroom.

Note that the facility is only open to members, so be sure to purchase a membership tag first before you bring your pooch to the dog park. Tags, which are $10 each and good for one calendar year, are available at the Burlington City Hall, Summer Street Animal Clinic, and the Des Moines County Animal Shelter. Remember to bring proof of your pup's rabies vaccination when you drop by any of these places.
