Description

Burlington Regional Dog Park is located on the same grounds as Dankwardt Park in Burlington, Iowa. Situated near to the south side of the swimming pool, this dedicated dog facility offers 1.4 acres of space for dogs to enjoy. The property is fenced and divided into two enclosed spaces with one reserved for use by small, shy, or senior dogs.

Entrance to the play areas is double-gated to provide an extra layer of security against canine escape artists. Though the park management team welcomes and encourages off-leash activity in its dog runs, safety is the number one priority of Burlington Regional Dog Park.

For this reason, owners must always have ready access to a lead when needed. Dogs may freely enjoy off-leash play time in these dog play spaces. However, all dogs must remain leashed when traveling to and from the runs as well as in all areas of Dankwardt Park. Burlington Regional Dog Park is Burlington's newest dog playground.

The park is a private facility, and access to the play areas requires a membership. Yearly memberships can be purchased at the cost of $10. They are available for sale at the following locations: the Summer Street Animal Clinic, the Burlington City Hall, or the Des Moines County Animal Shelter. Memberships are valid for one full year.

At the time of registration, owners are required to provide proof of a current rabies vaccination and a city dog license. A signed liability and waiver form must accompany all applications. Dogs visiting the play areas must wear tags on their collars which prominently display their city dog license tag as well as their Burlington Regional Dog Park membership.

This beloved dog play haven offers many amenities for dogs and their owners to enjoy. The runs themselves are equipped with water access to ensure all dogs stay cool and thirst-free during their play time at Burlington Regional Dog Park. A dog fountain was donated by the Summer Street Animal Clinic for this purpose.

Trees to offer shade have been donated as a complement to the on-site seating. Poop bags are also provided on the grounds. Owners are asked to use them to clean up after their pets as is mandated by Iowa state law. It is unknown if a bathroom is housed on the property.

Burlington Regional Dog Park has placed a sign at the entrance to the play spaces which denotes the management's expectations of their guests. It is important to note that food is not permitted on the grounds at any time. For a day of fun in a brand new Burlington Park, plan a visit to the Burlington Regional Dog Park!
