Does your pooch need to get the wiggles out? Then take them for a stroll at the Cambridge Crescent Dog Park! Nestled in the residential neighborhood of Larchmont-Edgewater, this open, grassy space is great for letting your pup get some exercise and explore new scents. The park is only 4 miles from downtown and 1 mile from Old Dominion University, making it a furrific spot for daily walkies!
Cambridge Crescent is one of Norfolk's six unfenced dog parks; therefore, all four-legged visitors must be leashed at all times. The site is bordered by streets and the Lafayette River, so you want to make sure your pup's leash stays on, especially if you have a water-loving canine. Even if Fido has good recall, it's against the rules to have doggos running loose. Furtunately, there is plenty of room for puppers of all sizes to stretch their legs, as well as some trees that provide shady spots to sit. Bring snacks and your dog's favorite treats to munch on while you take a break. You'll also find a few park benches where you and your furry BFF can relax and look out onto the river.
Be sure to clean up after your canine companion if they answer nature's call. While there is a doggie bag dispenser on-site, it wouldn't hurt to bring your own bags in case they run out. There is no drinking fountain in the area, so remember to bring some water too. Visitors say that the park floods occasionally since it is right on the river; in case you and Fido arrive at a muddy site, take your pooch for a leashed walk around the rest of the neighborhood instead.
For a no-frills, Fido-approved spot that's pawfectly suited for daily exercise, check out the Cambridge Crescent Dog Park!
