There are many trees in this park as well. During the spring and summer months, the canopy on these trees provide a lot of shade to the visitors of the park, and it helps to keep the area cool. Water is also available here in the form of a water hose, so if you bring your dog bowl, your canine will stay fresh from the shade and well hydrated.
There is plenty of seating at this park in the form of benches both along the fence line and strategically positioned under some of the trees at this dog park. This is a co-mingled dog park. That means there is not a separate fenced section for small breeds.
That can put the smaller canines at a higher risk in the event there are any aggressive canines at the park or dogs who have not been socialized with small breeds in the past. There is a bulletin board posted at this park with different flyers for community events and the like. There is no dedicated parking lot for the Colonial Greenway Park, and all of the parks can be found on the streets that surround the park.
This means you will be unloading your canine from the car on the road and during times of high traffic, you may have a hard time finding a spot available at all. Overall, the Colonial Greenway Park makes for a good place for residents to enjoy some time outside with their canine and a useful resource for you to socialize your canine.
