If your furry BFF is bouncing off the walls, then it's time for a trip to the dog park! Furtunately for Rockford pups, there's the Canine Corners Dog Park at Elliot Park. Covering 2 acres on the eastern edge of the city, this pooch playground provides a safe, fenced-in environment for canine residents to run, romp, and roam without a leash.
Located just off Lyford Road next to the Elliot Golf Course, the Canine Corners Dog Park at Elliot Park comprises two enclosed areas with spacious grassy fields. Brush and walking paths also enhance the site for a puptastic experience. Remember to keep your pooch leashed as you're walking up to the entrance, and only let them run loose once the gate is firmly closed behind you. Other park amenities include poop bag dispensers and picnic tables for the humans. You'll find shelter in the south area and water in the north area as well.
To ensure that everyone has a furrific time at the park, all dog parents must actively supervise and clean up after their charges. Keep Fido in your sight and under your control at all times, which shouldn't be too hard—while the park offers plenty of room to run and play, it's not so big that you can easily lose track of your pupper.
Another impawtant thing to note is that passes are required to enter the park. If you and Fido are just passing through Rockford, get the one-day pooch pass, which is $5 per dog. If you plan on becoming a regular, then a full season tag provides the best bang for your buck. Full season tags are $45 for residents and $55 for non-residents. Both the one-day pass and full season tag are available at any Rockford Park District Customer Service location. Don't forget to bring proof of current rabies vaccination!
For leash-free fun in east Rockford, look no further than the Canine Corners Dog Park at Elliot Park!
