Carter Dog Park

Mountain life is pawsome, and even more so when you are a lucky dog in Breckenridge! The Carter Dog Park inside Carter Park and Pavilion offers close to one full acre of fenced-in space for dogs to romp off leash. This free dog park is a pupular place for pooches of all sizes, and with gorgeous mountain views, you'll be just as excited to visit as your dog!

Open 24 hours a day, this furbulous dog oasis features one large space for big dogs, and another space just for smaller ones, which means your little pup can play in safety with similarly sized canine furiends. The terrain is mostly flat, and comprised of a mix of grass and dirt that can get rather muddy as the snow melts. Be sure to bring a towel for a quick wipe down before heading home. 

With lots of space to run and romp, your dog is sure to have a blast while expending all that dog energy! Sometimes, there's a working water fountain for thirsty dogs, and communal water bowls, but you may want to bring your own bottled water just in case it isn't available. Tables and benches give dog pawrents somewhere to relax while the pups cavort, and since the park is next to the sledding hill, they can also keep an eye on the little two-leggeds having fun too!  

Even though the dog park is open all day and night, note that there aren't any lights on site. Always have clean-up bags on hand, and be sure to pick up anything your dog leaves behind to help keep the dog park tidy. Bag stations are available, as well as trash cans to make disposal a breeze. Also be sure your dog is vaccinated and wearing a current license tag on their collars before coming to play.

Once your dog has had their fill of socializing, clip the leash back on and check out the rest of Carter Park which features a pavilion, sand volleyball courts, tennis courts, human restrooms, picnic tables and gas fireplaces. And if you've got an adventure dog, try one of the trails that begin right behind the dog park.
