There is plenty of room to play games like fetch or frisbee with your canine. They provide several amenities like bag stations and watering holes. A restroom is also available for you outside of the fenced area.
Being in Colorado and Boulder County, the views, of course, are out of this world. The area itself has an unobstructed view of the mountains with another section of the park providing the forefront of the scenery. It makes for a gorgeous place to spend some time on a sunny day.
They do have bench seating but very few trees for shading in the dog run. This can be hard when it is remarkably hot out, but the Colorado climate keeps it pretty bearable with some water and some sunscreen. The large dog area spans 1.5 acres, while the 'small' one is still a half acre. The Valmont dog park is the only one in the Boulder area with more land to roam, which has a 3-acre dog park, and a small dog park which covers about a quarter acre.
There is some water access to the lake, and the dogs can enjoy that section. However, be alert because some dogs can get over the concrete barrier in the lake and thus escape if they wanted to. On hot days, this can be quite a fun attraction for you and your dog. However, the water quality can vary as dogs and other wildlife may use the water to dispose of their waste. Picking up after your dog can go a long way to keeping the water quality as high as possible.Â
