Golden Dog Park (at Tony Grampsas) is a public dog park located in Golden, Colorado. This popular, 2.5-acre dog park is tucked away behind the Tony Grampsas Memorial Sports Complex baseball fields and up a slight hill which means it can be tricky to find. Make sure to follow the sidewalk north from the main parking lot to find this hidden gem.
The off-leash area is fully fenced and filled with mature trees, countless bushes, and natural slopes. The beautiful yet natural landscaping, all kinds of foliage, and ungroomed woody areas make it feel like a cozy yet safe forest for dogs to freely run around in. Needless to say, there is plenty of shade that dogs can relax in. There is also a small stream running through the dog park and a small concrete bridge across it that most dogs simply love playing by.Â
The shallow water is great for canines to splash and cool down in during the summer, though make sure to bring water and a bowl to prevent your pooch from drinking out of the stream. If you’re worried about your dog getting dirty, you’re in luck because there is also a washing station by the entrance. Trash cans are conveniently located and free dog waste bags are available so that you can clean up after your dog and remain respectful of the park’s grounds.
On top of all of the above, there are picnic tables and benches placed throughout the park, allowing owners to keep their canine companions insight during playtime and make friends with the other owners who are known to be very friendly and considerate. Even though the dog park is tricky to find and a bit of a walk from the parking lot, the effort of getting there is well worth it.
