Description

In the very north section of the Chatfield State Park, and above the Chatfield Reservoir, lucky pups can find the Chatfield Dog Park. This park features 80 acres off leash, free roaming for your beloved pup right in the outskirts of Denver.

Two parking areas for the dog park can be found off of Perimeter Road, and house restrooms for the humans. In winter, porta-potties are available. A double-gated entry provides extra protection. You do need to keep your dog on leash from the car to the gate, but once inside, your pup can ditch the leash and run free. With two ponds, this large space is a pupperdise. The whole area is completely fenced-in and wide open to give your dog plenty of exercise and room to play.

Clean-up bags are located right at the entrance, so grab a few to take with you as you wander throughout this large puppy playground, picking up anything your pup leaves behind. Picnic tables are also on site, giving you a place to rest while your dog cavorts. You won't be resting for long though, as your fiesty canine is sure to want to travel down one of the paved or unpaved paths. There's so much area to cover, your dog can definitely get out all the wiggles. In warm weather, many dogs love to get a splash in the ponds, so bring a towel for a wipe down if your's is one of them.

The park was originally meant for training hunting dogs, and while some areas are still designated for that, the majority of the park is free-range for your dog to explore. Drinking water is available during warmer months, but if you come when its cold out, be sure to bring your own for your thirsty pup.

Dog park rules state that no more than three dogs can come with each person, and you should keep leashes on hand at all times. You'll need a DOLA pass for each dog to access this dog park, which run $3 for the day, or $25 for the year. You'll also need to purchase a park pass to enter the state park on your way to the dog park, which are $9 for the day, or $80 for a year. Both can be purchased at entrance gates.

This beautiful Colorado park will give you and your pet a whole day of exploring, running, hiking, and socializing time! Experience dog heaven at the Chatfield Dog Park!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
