There are two ponds and several streams and rivers that are scattered about the property. It’s highly recommended that you voice train your dog and carry your dog leash with you at all times. The park was originally meant for training hunting dogs, while some areas are still designated for that, the majority of the park is free-range for your dog to explore.
The whole area is completely fenced-in and wide open to give your dog plenty of exercise and room to play. There are several unpaved pets just waiting to be explored. Chatfield Dog Park has plenty of drinking water and dog waste bags on hand so you don’t have to worry about a thing and just enjoy your adventure with your pet. Be sure to grab a waste bag on your way in and always clean up after your pet.
Dogs should be leashed when going to and from the fenced-in area, especially when you are getting them out of the car. Also, there should be no more than three dogs per person. Socializing your dog is encouraged at Chatfield however, aggressive behaviors are not. Overall, the park has plenty of space and room for pets, so there really are not a lot of issues with overcrowding like you see at other parks.
