Dogs are welcome to join their families in this beautiful park; however, they must remain on a leash of no greater than six feet in length at all times. At this time, there is not an area specifically reserved for dog play nor are there any on-site amenities provided for canine use.
Owners should come to the park equipped with both drinking water and poop bags. All canine waste removal is the responsibility of each owner. Castle Rock State Park is a public recreational space, and access is proudly offered to all people and their pooches at no cost.
There are no camping facilities available at this beloved park space. This idyllic play haven offers many great attractions for families to enjoy. Among the outdoor activities available are boating, canoeing, cross-country skiing (in season), geocaching, hiking, hunting, birdwatching, and even metal detecting.
Visitors to Castle Rock State Park remark that the fishing is excellent here. Additionally, the area is rife with plant life including 27 types of ferns indigenous to the region. Other on-site amenities include barbecues, a playground, picnic shelters, and a boat ramp. There is a water fountain housed on the grounds, and bathroom facilities are available.
However, visitors should make note that they are rather primitive. Castle Rock State Park strictly observes and supports all Illinois state law. With this in mind, all canine visitors must be current on all immunizations, and a city dog license is required. Looking for a great new place to explore? Consider a trip to Castle Rock State Park!
