You'll always have the option to go to Chewacla State Park. This outdoor playground welcomes visitors far and wide, and we are not just talking about the two-legged variety. Pooches of all sizes are also welcome in the state park. One of the area’s highlights is the 26-acre lake, as well as the unparalleled hiking and mountain trails which offer people adventure. A visit to the park is rewarding because there are plenty of things to do.
The entrance to the park may put off some people because it is surrounded by what appears to be residential areas similar to downtown Auburn. The opening is a door to the nearly 700 acres of natural wonder. Chewacla is home to both natural and humanmade waterfalls, the most popular of which is on the backside of the lake. The Civilian Conservation Corps helped construct the dam in the 1930s, and they are also responsible for most features in the park.
Creek View Trail rewards visitors with a unique slice of Alabama outdoors. Another favorite hiking trail is the CCT Trail, named after the group of conservationists who have done so much for the Chewacla State Park. It is famous because of its large rock formations scattered along the paths. They offer visitors a peek into the geological oddities prevalent in the state of Alabama.Â
