The Church Hill Dog Park is a public dog park located at the Chimborazo Park in Richmond, Virginia. In addition to the dog park, the 30-acre Chimborazo Park is home to a playground, a community garden, a visitor center, and even a replica of the Statue of Liberty.
It is a beautiful historic location as the park was the land site for one of the largest military hospitals in the world. The city park is conveniently located and offers 180-degree views of the city, making it a perfect spot for morning or evening walks with your leashed pooch.
The Church Hill Dog Park is located on the easter lower part of the Chimborazo Park and overlooks the city and the rooftops of the nearby residential buildings. The dog park is tightly secured with a split-rail fence and has a well-thought-out layout that consists of two separate sections for dogs to enjoy without a leash.
One dog run is meant for small dog breeds, and the other area accommodates the massive hounds. Both enclosures are partially covered in grass and dirt and provide enough room for dogs to stretch their legs and explore with their canine buddies.
The dog park is equipped with three canine cool down stations, a kiddie pool for dogs to splash in and a water hose with bowls to make sure the park’s four-legged patrons remain hydrated during their visit. There are a few benches and picnic tables scattered throughout the park, as well as two sheltered benches that owners can relax on.
There are also a few trees growing inside the Church Hill Dog Park at Chimborazo Park that provide an adequate amount of shade for both dogs and owners. Plus, there is a fake fire hydrant that dogs love to sniff and mark as their own. Your furry friend will have a great time at this place.
There are usually several dogs at the dog park during the day throughout the week, so if you are looking for a dog park where your furball will always have someone to play with, this is the spot! The regular patrons are said to be helpful and welcoming with well-behaved dogs. This scenic, country-style dog park is a must-visit if you live in the area or are passing by!
