The Three Rivers Park District in southeastern Minnesota is home to some of the most beautiful off-leash dog play areas in the state. One of these areas is located just a few minutes from Prior Lake at Cleary Lake Regional Park. The off-leash area features 28 acres of fully enclosed prairies, hiking trails, and swimming areas, all of which you and your dog are sure to love.
There are more than five miles of hiking trails contained within the regional park, and the fields enclosed within the off-leash area are well-maintained. If your dog is hoping to take a dive, there is a separately enclosed pond which allows dogs to swim and play with other swimming dogs. After playtime is over, there are water stations where your dog can grab a drink as you hose any dirt and mud that might try to follow you home.
Restrooms and water fountains for humans are available at the dog park, and you can rest or doze on any of the park's many shaded benches. Cleary Lake Regional Park is maintained by the Three Rivers Park District, and there is an annual fee of $45 to use the park. Despite this fee, dog owners flock to the park in droves.
The park visitors believe that every dollar is worth it and that the park’s excellent and well-maintained facilities are far better than going to free dog parks that are poorly maintained and lacking in beautiful space. The majority of dogs visiting the park are large hunting or field dogs, and no areas are set aside or enclosed for small dogs.
That being said, park regulars are reportedly excellent, friendly, and alert dog owners. If you are looking for a state or regional park where you and your dog can enjoy the outdoors, look no further than Cleary Lake Regional Park. The off-leash area is sure to satisfy your dog’s every wild instinct, and you will be free to enjoy the land and the air to your heart’s content, as well.
