Description
Ott's Off-Leash Dog Sanctuary, also known locally as Dr. Ott's Dog Park, finds its home in Ruskin, Florida. This park bears the distinction of being the first off-leash dog facility in south Hillsborough County. Founded by local veterinarian Dr. Hal Ott, this dedicated dog playground was built on land purchased by Dr. Ott in 2004.

The original property consisted of 3.75 acres; however, Dr. Ott soon desired to expand to include an area specifically for use by small dogs, and thus, purchased an additional two acres of land in 2006. In 2007, an additional 0.35 acres was added to the property, and Dr. Ott continues to hope that more land will become available for future park improvements and expansion.

Dr. Ott, a dog lover and visionary, designed his park with an eye to providing a safe space for dogs to receive regular exercise and engage in off-leash play. His property houses runs for large and small dogs to meet the needs of both in a safe manner. Florida state law requires that dogs be leashed when entering and exiting designated off-leash zones as well as in all public places.

Ott's Off-Leash Dog Sanctuary, an idyllic dog playground, is a public facility. All dogs and their owners are warmly welcomed to visit at no cost. Dr. Ott left no stone unturned in equipping each play space. Water access is provided to ensure all dogs remain well-hydrated during their play time. Also housed within the enclosures are benches, swings, a dog wading pool, picnic tables, and poop bags.

As with most dog parks, the responsibility for all pet waste removal lies with each owner. Park officials gratefully acknowledge each owner's cooperation with helping them continue to provide an exceptionally clean space for all to enjoy. Ott's Off-Leash Dog Sanctuary has placed a few expectations upon dogs and their families who visit this beloved doggy play haven.

All dogs must be current on vaccinations and on a veterinarian-prescribed preventative against fleas, ticks, and heartworm. A city dog license is also recommended. For a day of fun at a great Hillsborough County Park, bring Fido for a visit to Ott's Off-Leash Dog Sanctuary!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
