This became the foundation for his vision of a similar dog playground he was instrumental in designing and building in his home base of Coral Springs, Florida. The park which bears his name broke ground in the early 1990's. Housed on two acres of property, Dr. Paul's play areas provided safely enclosed spaces suitable for dogs of all sizes to enjoy off-leash play time.Â
His vision included a space for large dogs as well as one where smaller dogs and even the elderly and shy could play without fear of injury. Sadly, shortly after the completion of his dream dog facility, Dr. Paul lost his battle with lung cancer and passed away. His legacy lives on in the park that he created for all dogs and their owners to enjoy.Â
As per the request of Dr. Paul, this public play space is open to all visitors and their dogs at no cost. The property is equipped with all of the things both dogs and their owners could possibly need for a great visit to the park. The runs themselves contain agility equipment and access to water.Â
There is also a paved path suitable for walking and running. Bathrooms are housed on the property for use by the public, and poop bags are also provided in dispensers for owners who may be in short supply. The Dr. Steven G. Paul Park staff have a few requirements for owners bringing their dogs to the dog play areas.Â
In accordance with Broward County law, dogs must be vaccinated for rabies and be in possession of a city dog license tag. Also noteworthy are the few items which are banned from the property which include spike collars, glass containers, alcohol, and food. For a great day at the dog park, bring Fido for a visit to Dr. Steven G. Paul Dog Park!Â
