Danny Jackson Bark Dog Park is a public dog park located in Houston, Texas. It is just 15 minutes by car from the downtown Houston area and according to its regular patrons, it is definitely worth the drive.
This 2.76-acre dog park has a long, rectangular shape and it is divided into two separate off-leash areas. The large run is meant for bigger hounds while the smaller enclosure is great for small dog breeds and it can be accessed through a separate entrance. Both areas provide a good amount of space for dogs to freely run around in and get their daily dose of leash-free exercise. While one area is bigger than the other, both have a fair amount of features and activities. There are two dog ponds for swimming and splashing in, one in each area, as well as several drinking fountains in both runs. In addition, there are plenty of benches scattered around the dog park and both areas have shaded seating.
There are trash cans and free dog waste bag dispensers that are conveniently located along the granite walking trails running through the dog park, encouraging dog owners to clean up after their four-legged companions. There is also a dog washing area right outside of the dog park which is incredibly convenient considering the park’s surface consists of grass and dirt. Though there aren’t many trees in the off-leash area, there are a few fire hydrants and shaded areas that dogs can cool off in.
This great dog park is conveniently located directly next to the parking lot which is very spacious and free. However, keep in mind that there are no human restrooms nearby so take advantage of one before you take a drive here. Since the park is open until late it is also very well-lit and though not crowded, there is usually someone to play with in the evenings.
