Doggie Park - Columbia

Doggie Park is a facility for exercising dogs off-leash which can be found in the city of Columbia, South Carolina. This dog park is for members only and is not open for use by the general public or casual visitors to the city. Pre-registration is required, and there is an annual fee of $36 payable. 

Details of how to register can be found on the city's website for parks and recreational facilities. There is space for three or four vehicles to park right by the dog park entrance. This dog park is a sizeable two-acre patch of ground which has been designated as an area for exercising dogs off-leash. It has secure, head-high fencing around the perimeter which is made from plastic coated wire mesh. 

The staging area is secured with an electronic lock. Surfaced mainly with pebbly dirt, the off-leash area does have a few patches of rough grass. There are plenty of trees around the dog park border and also in the off-leash area itself. Plastic chairs have been provided for pet owners to sit on and there is a gazebo for shelter if it rains. There is no small dog section.

Members of the dog park need to know that use of mobile phones in the off-leash area is strictly prohibited. Even though this may be a membership only off-leash area, pet owners are still required to abide by the rules and regulations posted in the park. All handlers should be at least eighteen years old and are not allowed to exercise more than two dogs at the same time. 

Owners using the facility should also carry certificated proof of licensing and vaccinations on their person. Dogs not displaying the appropriate social behavior, including barking continuously, must be removed from the dog park. Dog toys or training treats are not allowed. Poop bags are provided on-site.
