Description

The Donnell Pond Public Reserved Land is somewhere to escape into the wilderness with your pup. This lush region of forested land is at some distance from civilization. It is such a tranquil setting, you may feel like staying there forever with your fur baby, as tempting as it seems, but camping out there is restricted to a maximum of fourteen days in any forty-five day period. But that's still enough to get back to nature with your pup.

If you are considering taking some time out with your pup in the Donald Pond Public Reservation, then go prepared. Pups do need to stay on a leash in the campsite areas but are welcome to run free everywhere else as long as they are under their pet parent's control. Responding to voice commands is a definite must as there are over one thousand four hundred acres for a pup to get lost in. Respecting the wildlife and other park users is also important.

You could be out with your pet pal and encounter horseback riders, hikers, or even a bear, so knowing your dog will come to call even in the face of a major distraction means you'll be able to enjoy your time there too. Don't forget, wild beasties carry ticks and fleas so ensure a pup is well protected from parasites before heading for the hills. This region has some amazing mountain trails to hike with a four-legged friend.

Some are graded as easy and take around two hours while others require a bit more stamina and could see you out in the fresh air for six or seven hours. There are lakes where pups can swim, and humans can take them out for canoe rides or get in a spot of fishing. Pack it out and pack it in doesn't just refer to camping gear. It also encompasses pup poop. Don't leave it behind, bag it and take it with you to ensure this stunning forestland remains unchanged for the next generation of users to enjoy too.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
