Visitors to this park lament that it can be quite challenging to find; however, it is universally accepted that it is worth the effort. There are many natural trails for Fido and his family to explore as well as access to the Animas River. Dogs are permitted in all areas of the park including the river, and off-leash play is encouraged. Complimentary poop bags are available on the premises. Owners are asked to assist park officials in preserving the cleanliness of this natural treasure by picking up then properly disposing of all canine waste materials in the provided trash receptacles.
Though few regulations govern the use of this public dog facility, it is required that all dogs be current on vaccinations and wear the appropriate required state license tag. It is also mandatory for all dogs on the premises to wear a collar and to prominently display the tags which show evidence of their vaccinations and city license. Access to this pristine public dog park is free of charge.
It is unknown if bathroom facilities exist on the premises or if fresh drinking water is available. For this reason, it is recommended that owners bring a bottle of water and suitable drinking container for your dog to drink from. The park officials strictly prohibit alcohol on the property. Overnight parking and camping are also forbidden. Feel like taking a wilderness excursion with Fido? Why not visit Durango Park Off-Leash Area?
