Next time your pooch needs some exercise, grab the leash and head over to Lion John Weicht Park. Located in the fabulous city of Elk River, it is the pawfect destination for some fun, adventure, and pure puppy excitement. It sprawls across 35 acres, so there is plenty of room for your doggo to explore. Â
When it comes to amenities, this park seriously delivers. Two legged park visitors can play a round or two of disc golf. Or have a friendly game of ball on the baseball field or basketball court. A sandbox and play area is available for the little ones. Four legged visitors will be interested in the paved walking trail. Walk, jog, or run with your pup on this pawsome path. It circles around the outside of the property, connects the major play areas, and passes the beautiful pond in the center of the park. Since this is a pupular park, your pooch will have lots of opportunities to meet new friends. While on the trail, be sure to stop by the touching Korean War Memorial.
The park also has a large open space. After their workout, your pal can cool down with a leisurely walk around the grass field. Their nose can get to work and discover all the new smells. A few picnic areas are scattered throughout the park, so stick around for lunch. Don’t forget to use the clean-up bags provided at the dog waste station. Â
Once the snow falls, the park transforms into a hub of winter activity. An ice skating rink, hockey rink, and sledding hill stay busy. If your pooch loves to frolic in the fluffy white stuff, pay a visit to the park during the cold months. No matter when you go, this park will definitely make your pup’s tail wag!
