Dogs of all sizes and breeds are welcome to join the fun inside this fully fenced in large enclosure, right behind the Fish and Wildlife buildings. Parking is available, and entry is free! Once you pass the double gated entry, the leash can come off, and you dog can romp and play to their heart's content. While there is no separate area for small dogs to use, there is a small fenced off section for training purposes that you are free to use.
With a soft grass and dirt/sand terrain, this puptastic spot is bordered by trees, so you and you pup can feel a world away from the city. The enclosure itself is often quite sunny, so be sure to bring water and a bowl for your thirsty pup. Clean-up bags are often available on site, but bring a few just in case, and be sure to scoop up whatever your pup lays down. Trash cans are also available, and the park asks that only dog waste goes in them. In summertime, there are kiddie pools set out for the pups to splash in.
To safely play in this open park, owners are asked to limit themselves to two dogs each. Dogs must visibly display up to date license tags on their collars. Always carry a leash with you, and keep your pup leashed in any area outside of the fenced in dog park. Please do not bring any food or toys that your dog is possessive about, but feel free to bring balls, frisbees and other toys that your pup doesn't mind sharing with his furry friends.Â
Chase away that pup boredom and bring your dog to meet some new canine pals at the Essex Dog Park!
