There are plenty of trees for shade. Be sure to pick up after your dog with the bag that you brought from home. And even though there is a lake, you should still bring some fresh water for Fido if he gets thirsty. The park is surrounded by a chain linked fence with gated entry and has a section for small dogs and one for large dogs. Inside the park, you can sit on the benches or under a covered space to keep you out of the hot sun. You'll watch your dog play with the mountains as a backdrop. This park has beautiful views that you can't help but notice.
To maximize your enjoyment of the park, make sure you clean up after Fido and watch him for interactions or behavior. Aggressive dogs are not allowed in the park, and if there is an altercation leading to a bite, it must be reported to the Estes Park Police Department. Your dog must be up-to-date on all his shots and healthy, as well as wear his collar with ID tag. He needs to be on his leash when he is not in the park.
Make sure your dog responds to your call and commands, too. If you're not sure how he will interact with other dogs or humans, go to the park when it is not busy so he isn't overwhelmed. Mid-day is a good time to introduce Fido to the dog park because it is not too busy.
