Description

The crown jewel of Springfield, Forest Park is a furrific place to spend a beautiful day with the entire family—and that includes four-legged members! Covering 736 acres in the southwestern corner of the city, this beautiful green space is one of the largest city parks in the US. There's something for everyone here, so be prepared to spend a few hours exploring and enjoying this woofderful spot!

Furry visitors are welcome at Forest Park as long as they are on a leash. It is unknown if doggie waste bags are provided, so don't forget to bring your own, as well as some water to share with your adventurous doggo. Some of the features that your pooch will surely love are the hiking trails and paved walking paths that meander throughout the park. The trails lead into wooded areas, where many interesting sights, smells, and sounds await your curious pupper. Since the park is so scenic and serene, it has become pawpular among joggers and dog walkers, so Fido might make some new friends before the day is over.

Other parts of the park that you and your pup would want to check out are the rose garden and duck ponds. The rose garden often hosts outdoor wedding ceremonies, while the duck ponds are a favorite among visitors with small children. Both areas are great for relaxing strolls or just hanging out with your pooch. If you and Fido are visiting during the Christmas season, don't miss the annual Bright Nights holiday light display, which draws tourists from all over New England!

Forest Park is also home to the historic Barney Carriage House, the Cyr Arena ice skating facility, the Forest Park Zoo, and various athletic fields and courts. Note that there is an entrance fee of $3 for in-state vehicles and $5 for out-of-state vehicles; it's worth getting an annual pass if you plan on returning frequently!

Expect to have a barking good time with your doggo at Forest Park!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
