Description

The Fort Niagara State Park is a 440-acre piece of partially forested land situated in the northwest corner of New York state. Aimed more towards families and youngsters, this lovely park is especially enjoyable as a way to beat the summertime heat. Boating is another favorite past time that you may enjoy in Fort Niagara State Park.

There are two boat launches, both of which are free for public use and provide access to both the Niagara River and Lake Ontario. Any individuals bringing watercraft must possess the proper registration and carry it with them at all times, per New York state regulations. Dogs are welcome to accompany you on your boat, provided they stay on a 6-foot leash or shorter at all times.

Hiking in the Fort Niagra State Park tends to attract a large number of guests as well. 3.1 total miles of trails offer a diverse array of opportunities for such a small park, with beautiful forest views and scenic shoreline walks waiting for would-be wanderers. Canines are welcome on these trails year round, provided they stay restrained at all times.

Dog stations are posted at the entrance of each of these trails, should your canine leave any messes behind. If you are someone who enjoys either participating in or witnessing sporting events, there are 18 soccer fields, four baseball diamonds, two Olympic-sized pools, and a set of tennis courts to satisfy any athletic requirements visitors might have.

These structures tend to be off-limits for canines, but dogs can still sit on the sidelines with their owners provided they do not cause a disturbance. The Fort Niagara State Park tends to be aimed towards families, which is why three playgrounds are installed throughout the area. So your little two-legged loved ones can have fun too.

These provide a welcome break for parents, as well as enhancing kids' experiences overall. In addition to these playgrounds, two nature centers cater to guests of all ages, offering free educational programming throughout the summer as well as a few indoor exhibits about the park. Dogs are prohibited from all of the structures mentioned above.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
