Description

The Fort Pierce Inlet State Park is a pristine, 720-acre piece of the Florida coastline that offers everything from water sports to horseback riding. However, it is mostly watersports that tend to be one of the priorities for guests of Fort Pierce Inlet State Park, with beautiful sandy beaches providing ample opportunities for swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, and surfing.

Surfboard rental is available at the park's central office and is a great way to spend your time on the shore. If you are looking to snorkel, there are classes and rental equipment for this activity as well, more information on which can be found at the Florida State Parks' website. Hiking is an excellent activity in Fort Pierce Inlet State Park as well, with seven miles of trails offering a diverse array of terrain and scenery.

Several bird species here are federally protected, so make to stop at one of the many scenic overlooks to see what you can spot. These trails are fine for dogs, as long as they're on a 6-foot leash or shorter. Park officials remind guests that any messes left behind by visitors are their responsibility to clean up. Two modern playground facilities were installed in 2002 as an effort to bring more families to the park.

These feature swings, covered slides, and several pieces of climbing equipment. Dogs are prohibited from getting onto any of these platforms or climbing areas but can hang out with their families as long as they stay on their leash throughout their stay. The geocaching trend has been growing here in recent years, and in 2012 the park's department put together a free series of events called Operation Recreation GeoTour.

These events are geared towards families and offer a set of prizes through their educational programs. More information on these schedules can be found posted in the park's central office. Stand-alone shower stations dot the beach and are free with park admission. These are off limits to canines. However, there are plenty of other activities you can enjoy with Fido at Fort Pierce Inlet State Park.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
