Description

Fountainhead State Park has been a well-kept secret for Oklahoma locals for generations, providing the perfect environment to get out of the city and clear your head. Hikers will love the diverse array of trails found inside of Fountainhead State Park. These offer several levels of difficulty, meaning you won't have a hard time crafting your trip to your specifications.

The park suggests checking out Bluebird Trail, as its lined with seasonal wildflower blooms and takes guests on a loop around some of the more notable areas found in Fountainhead State Park. The 17 miles of trails here are also open to equestrians, with the on-site Lake Eufaula Stables found adjacent to the trailhead. Cycling is also permitted on certain parts of this network.

If you're looking to get out on these trails with your canine, it's essential to follow best practices. Make sure to bring a sturdy leash, as well as plastic bags to clean up any debris your dog might leave on the ground. If you're a fan of disc golf, Fountainhead State Park offers a full 18-hole course that's free to use. If you don't have your equipment, there's plenty available for rental at the nearby gift shop located inside of the park's central offices.

Dogs are allowed on the course provided they stay on a leash. Traditional golf can also be found here on the park's 18-hole Fountainhead Golf Course, which is owned and run by the local Muscogee Creek Nation. Fountainhead State Park is a great place to soak in views of the lake while playing a few rounds.

The area also contains a putting green and fully stocked pro shop. Sorry dog lovers, but canines aren't permitted anywhere on the golf course grounds. A free public swimming area is located on Fountainhead State Park and is staffed with lifeguards throughout the summer months. If you come with your dog, you'll, unfortunately, have to leave them behind while you dip your toes.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
