While you are not allowed to let your dog off their leash to play at this park, you can still enjoy the vast nature trails and other amenities at the park. The Cocasset River Park and surrounding area have over 30 miles of trails that range from easy to difficult, from one half an acre to several acres. Many of these trails will take you into the F. Gilbert Hills State Forest, where you can enjoy the rugged beauty and wildlife in the area.
You will need to keep your dog on the leash while walking on the trails, but you will both be able to enjoy nature and the beautiful scenery in the New England countryside. Some of the trails include the Turnbull Trail, Field Trail, and the Rocklawn Farm Trail. However, be aware that some parts of these trails may take you close to or onto private property. You need to get permission from the owners before accessing these private areas.
There are several playgrounds, picnic areas, and even some BBQ grills and pavilions in the park for your enjoyment as well. In addition, there are several public restrooms and drinking fountains in strategic areas around the park. Although there are sports fields in the park, your dog is not allowed on the fields but can be on the sidelines as long as they are on a leash.
If you are in the Foxboro, Massachusettes area, take a trip to the Cocasset River Park and see some of nature's most gorgeous New England views. From the F. Gilbert Hills State Forest to the Wolf Meadow and the Harold B. Clark Town Forest, you and your dog are surrounded by natural beauty to enjoy.
