Frankfort Bark Park is a private, members-only dog park located in the northwest corner of the Commissioners Park in Frankfort, Illinois. In order to access the dog park, residents of Frankfort need to pay an annual fee of $50, while non-residents pay $55 each year. There is also a one-time fee of $10 for the key card which also tracks dog vaccination records.
The off-leash dog park was opened in May 2007 and has since become a favorite destination for the neighborhood dog owners. The grassy, 3-acre area is divided into two runs and contains everything you would want in a dog park. It has a separate small dog area, water spigots that are easily accessible and plenty of shade shelters for both dogs and their owners to enjoy.Â
There are even wind shelters that make those colder, windier days more bearable and encourage dog owners to visit the park to ensure their canines receive their daily dose of exercise. There are also free waste bag dispensers that are always filled and conveniently located trash cans, which explains why this park is so clean and well-maintained. Though there are no restrooms inside the dog run, there are public restrooms in the Commissioners Park.
There is a paved parking lot right by the dog park enabling easy access, as well as a variety of different walking trails throughout the park. The dog park is well-lit, which is great during the fall season as it allows owners to visit the park with their canine buddies after work or in the evenings. On top of all of that, it is a great place for the entire family as there are plenty of cool facilities and activities nearby, from picnic areas, playgrounds, splash pads, baseball fields and even a skatepark. Your four-legged family member won’t be the only one to fall in love with this beautiful park.
