One of the larger dog parks in Houston, the Gene Green Beltway 8 Dog Park also has a beautiful area of underbrush and trails left in place so hunting breeds can sniff up some birds and maybe even exercise the skills they are known. Fenced and double-gated, there are two areas here at the park, one for small and another for larger dogs.
The small dog side is about two-thirds of an acre while the large dog side is almost four acres! There is ample space for dogs of all sizes to roam, jump, roll, run around and enjoy the day. Aside from the dog park, the area also features a fantastic park for humans, skate park, splash park and an out-of-this-world playground for tiny tots which will set their hearts aflutter.
Maintained by Harris County Precinct One, it also has a swimming pond for large dogs so they can wade and swim as long as they want. The tiny and timid pooches are not to be left out because they also have a splash pad all for themselves. Just because they are diminutive does not mean they can’t have fun! There are doggie water stations all throughout the bark park, as well as water fountains for humans so no need to bring water.
Waste stations are also present, so there is no excuse not to pick up after your dogs while visiting the Gene Green Beltway 8 Dog Park. Swimming in the pond and rolling on the grass or the ground can easily make dogs dirty and stinky but not to worry as there are doggie showers, so you do not have to live with a smelly dog on your drive home.
There are plenty of shaded seating areas which pet parents and park visitors can share with each other and take refuge in from the hot sun, as well as walking paths for a short hike with your dog on a leash no longer than six feet in length. Another additional point goes to the Gene Green Beltway 8 Dog Park because it is wheelchair accessible.
