The Henry Garney Canine Recreation Park is a dog park in the town of Medway, Massachusetts. Vehicle parking is prohibited in any zone around the dog park other than in the dog park's authorized parking lot. Visitors to the park claim there is ample parking available at most times but it can be busy on weekends.
Owners using the Henry Garney Canine Recreation Park dog park facility are cordially reminded they must keep their pets leashed until inside the double-gated staging areas. The off-leash areas of this dog park contain several large trees and are completely surfaced with a thick layer of bark chippings.
There is also a partial covering of natural grass in the small breed zone, which is independent to the large dog exercise area. There is a limit in place which restricts all handlers using the dog park to exercising no more than three dogs at once. Owners are required to carry a leash in their hand for each dog they take into the off-leash area.
Pitbull breeds are welcome to use the dog park, but according to Medway town bylaws, they must wear a muzzle at all times. Dogs which have previously shown aggressive behavior should not be taken to the dog park. All dogs are required to display identification tags on their collars. Those dogs which have not been either spayed or neutered cannot use this off-leash area.
Children under twelve are not granted admission to the off-leash areas, and those above the age of twelve are required to be closely supervised. It is not permitted to climb the trees in the dog park. There are plenty of benches for pet owners to sit on.
The Henry Garney Canine Recreation Park also has poop bag dispensers and water supply. This is a very clean, well-kept dog park and all owners are required to comply with the poop pick up regulations to help keep the off-leash zones in tip-top condition for all users.
