The Herman Frank's Dog Park is located in the Herman Frank's Park in Salt Lake City, Utah. There is a vehicle parking lot adjacent to the large dog area. This dog park is a large enclosure which has been fenced off to provide a suitable location to allow dogs time off-leash. All handlers using the facility are restricted to exercising a maximum of two dogs which must remain leashed until in the designated off-leash zone.
This dog park is an open expanse of ground which is completely enclosed with secure chain-link fencing. It has a combination surface of grass, dirt, small grade gravel and wood chippings. Paved pathways run around the border areas making it easy for owners to walk around and keep up with their dog's antics.Â
It is required for handlers to keep their dog's under permanent visual contact as well as competent voice control. Any pup showing signs of anti-social behavior or aggression should be leashed and removed from the park. Owners are also requested to respect wildlife and prevent their dogs from chasing birds and squirrels.
The Herman Frank's Dog Park does not have a separate section for small dogs. The dogs using the park must be licensed with the local authorities and have their vaccination cycles up to date. Neutering is not a requirement but preferred. Dogs which are in heat are not allowed in the off-leash areas nor are young puppies under the age of four months.Â
There are some pieces of agility equipment which provide extra dog entertainment and exercise. The off-leash areas both have dog-friendly water fountains and poop bag dispensers although owners should always carry an extra supply on their person. All dog owners using the off-leash areas must scoop up and bag their dog's poop. There are plenty of containers on-site for the responsible disposal of used poop bags.
