Highbridge Dog Park

Lucky pups living in Manhattan have lots of off leash dog areas to choose from! The Highbridge Park Dog Run is located right inside lovely Highbridge Park, just where Amsterdam Avenue turns into Fort George Avenue, in the northern section of the park. With street parking available right outside the entrance, the dog run is also within walking distance for families living in the area. 

This puptastic dog run features two fully fenced-in areas, one for smaller doggoes and one for the larger pups. Once your dog is inside the gated entry, the leash can come off! Lined with crushed gravel, this dog run is great for rainy days when dirt lined areas can leave dogs muddy. With free access and plenty of shade, this park is a pupular choice. There are also benches for you to relax on while your pup socializes and plays with neighborhood dogs. 

While this dog run has lots of room for your dog to play, it is short on amenities. There is a water spigot on site, but it requires the use of a special key to unlock. You'll need to bring water and a bowl for your thirsty dog, as well as clean-up bags, and always stoop and scoop. A trash can is located near the street just outside the run. Be sure to have your leash on hand while inside the run, and promptly put it back on when your pup exits. Also make sure to have a current dog license and rabies vaccination info with you.

If your pup has their fill of the dog run, but still has some wiggles to get out, put that leash back on and take a stroll through Highbridge Park. Paths will take you to the High Bridge and the Tower, as well as through forests, and past cliffs and rock outcroppings. There are playground and sports courts and fields, as well human bathrooms and eateries in this expansive green space.
