Access to this public space is free of charge. It is interesting to note that though this doggy play haven bears the name "beach," it is not near to water. It is, however, adjacent to a ball field named Birdie Tebbetts Field. Benches are provided in shaded areas to allow owners to relax while observing their dogs at play. Stray balls from the baseball complex do find their way into the seating areas, so owners are advised to keep an eye out for them.
Fresh water suitable for drinking is provided on site; however, drinking bowls are not. Owners are asked to bring their own dishes to deposit water into to help keep Fido well-hydrated during his day at the park. It is unknown if public bathrooms are available on the property but complimentary poop bags are provided on-site. Owners are asked to assist park officials in preserving the cleanliness of this great dog play space by picking up and properly disposing of all canine waste materials.
Although there are no official rules governing the use of this public dog park, it is highly recommended that all dogs be current on vaccinations including rabies. It is also advisable for all dogs to bear the appropriate required state license tag on their collars.Â
Recent newspaper reports cite that the community is fundraising to make upgrades to this dedicated dog facility. Among the proposed improvements are more benches, landscaping to provide further shade, more secure fencing and gates, and a possible park expansion. For a fun day at the park with Fido and the family, consider a visit to Holmes Beach Dog Park at Central Park!
