Road trips are fun, but sitting in the car for too long is not, even for the most well-behaved canines! If you and Fido are traveling northward along I-35 between the Oklahoma/Texas border and Oklahoma City, swing by the Garvin County Rest Area Northbound—this furrific rest stop will have you feeling refreshed and re-energized!

Located at mile marker 59, the Garvin County Rest Area Northbound is pawfect for getting some rest when driving long distances. Here, weary travelers will find restrooms, plenty of parking for cars and trucks, and ample space for dogs and kids to run off their pent-up energy. Don't let your pooch run loose, though—the area isn't fenced, so make sure your pupper remains on a leash at all times. Remember to grab a couple of doggie waste bags before you and Fido hop out of the car, as these are not provided at the rest stop. 

Once your doggo has had a chance to do their business, take them for a walk around the site to get the wiggles out. There are paved walkways to follow, as well as grassy areas that your pooch will surely enjoy sniffing. Much of the area is shaded, so Fido can still go for a stroll on warmer days without getting hot paws. Feeling hungry from all that traveling? There are no vending machines on-site, but if you brought lunch, you and your canine BFF can have a picnic at the park. Have a seat at one of the teepee-shaped picnic tables and dig right in!
