If you have ever been to the Libertyville area, you will know that it is a place filled with family fun, cute little boutique shops, and it’s surrounded by the Lake County Forest Preserve. Within Libertyville sits Independence Grove Dog park.Â
This park backs right up to the Independence Grove Forest Preserve and the dog park is connected to the preserves by the Des Plaines River Trail. While the dog park is fenced-in, there is a gate that allows you to get on the river trail. Keep in mind dogs should be leashed when not in the off-leash area.
The 30-acre dog park is a fully fenced in off-leash area with trails, wide open fields, and a pond that dogs love to swim and play in. There are plenty of trash cans and doggie waste bags for your convenience. Dogs should be friendly and trained with voice commands.Â
Aggressive dogs are not allowed in the park. Also, dogs should be properly licensed and fully vaccinated when visiting this community dog park. Keep in mind that your dog should be leashed when entering or leaving the parking lot.
The park is only accessible with a day pass or annual permit. Prices vary for annual passes so please check the website for purchase of those passes. Day passes are $10 per dog and there are self-pay stations in the parking lot to obtain a day pass. For more information on day permits and annual passes please check out their website.
All in all, this is a wonderful doggie park that has so much room for playing, socializing and even swimming. It’s one of the best summer spots to bring your beloved pet, so if you are in the area definitely check it out. Lake County prides itself on this being one of the best off-leash dog parks in the county. You are sure to love this spot.
