While dogs are permitted at this public beach facility free of charge, they are prohibited from free roaming. Dogs must be securely leashed on a lead no longer than 16 feet at all times. While dogs do retain access to the vast majority of the property including shorelines and the water, they are forbidden from the southernmost portion of the island between the deck and St. Andrews. Dogs must also stay off all sand dunes.Â
The northern section of the island is home to the stunning Driftwood Beach where Fido can lay claim to any number of treasures for playing fetch. The island itself boasts of 10 miles of beach area and 20 miles of dirt trails to explore. It is unknown if public access bathrooms are available on-site at this picturesque seaside haven. Since it is not known if fresh water is available to meet Fido's hydration needs, it is wise to carry a bottle of water and a suitable drinking container.
Though poop bags are most likely not provided on site, it is mandated that all owners carry some with them. To help assist the beach management in maintaining the pristine condition of the beach, all owners are requested to pick up and properly dispose of all canine waste.
No official regulations are posted regarding the use of this public beach. However, it is always wise for dogs to be current on vaccinations. Additionally, it is advisable for all dogs to bear the appropriate required state license tag on their collar. For a beach vacation you will likely never forget, take a trip to Jekyll Island Beach!
