The park has two sections. One is a field for running free and playing with other pups, and the other section is a wooded trail. Both are off-leash so your pup can roam free, follow his nose, and chase an intriguing squirrel. There are cute handpainted signs throughout the park such as "Hound Highway," "Furry Freedom Forest," and "Rescue Road."Â
The ground is mostly dirt and wood chips, which can make things a little muddy when it rains. The community members maintain this park and there are often creative signs posted reminding owners to pick up after their dogs. This park is big, so try to keep your dog in your view because if he leaves a mess, you need to quickly pick it up.
There is no separation of large or small dogs in this park, so make sure you keep an eye on your pup. Dogs must be well trained and respond to your call, and any aggressive behavior is not tolerated. Please make sure your pup is spayed/neutered and is currently licensed and wearing a tag. This park is a hot spot for the dogs of Decatur, so make sure both you and your dog are ready to socialize and make some new friends!
This dog park is only accessible to Decatur residents and parking is on the street. The park is located next to the Boys and Girls Club and is across the street from a church. The City of Decatur says there is no parking in either lot, but many visitors report using the church lot on weekdays.Â
