Kelly Park

The Roxborough community in Philadelphia is where the city begins to turn into the thick Pennsylvania forests that the state is known for. With large amounts of green space and wide areas of trees, it's no surprise that Kelly Park offers these features in the smaller space that's available for humans and pups.

The lot is surrounded by roads, with off-street parking available on all sides of the park. There is a paved sidewalk that encompasses the park, with a wandering trail that cuts through the middle that is pawrfect for a stroll with your pup. Whether you wander into the park through the trail or from a grassier region, you'll immediately be met with shade and a cool breeze. Tall oak trees line the center of the park, and surround it's other great features.

On the inside of the park, you'll find a nice playground covered in shade, perfect for playing on a summer afternoon when it can get hot. Additionally, the center trail in the park connects the playground with two basketball courts, swing sets, and another smaller playground that was put in nearly a decade ago. The playgrounds have a soft-surface fake turf, with benches lining the edges. Also along the trail, there are more benches, along with trash cans and a few picnic tables. The main features that attract people and pups to the park are the abundance of green space available. Completely encompassing the playgrounds is green grass, which is well-maintained and mowed in the summer, making it easy and fun to play on. Bring along water to share with your pup, and clean up bags.
