Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens

For your next pawtastic adventure, consider bringing Fido and the fam to spend the day at Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens! Considered a hidden treasure by the locals, this pawtastic recreational area is a haven for water-dwelling plants and is the pawrfect spot for nature lovers and their pooches to spend the day. 

Doggoes are warmly welcomed at Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens, but to be kind to the wildlife that makes the park its home, you must keep Fido leashed at all times. As you meander through the doggone amazing grounds, be careful that your main canine squeeze doesn't accidentally disturb any of the animals nesting in their habitat as they are easily frightened!

If some R&R was what you had on your mind, Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens will not disappoint. This wooftastic park is a pawpular spot for people and their puppers looking to relax while enjoying a leisurely stroll in the meadows or along the boardwalk. The athletic fields are the pawrfect place to toss around a frisbee or ball. In June or July, your strolls near the historic ponds are sure to bring woofderful views of the abundant water lilies and lotus flowers that line the premises. Bird watching is also a favorite activity here, so bring along your camera to snap some shots of the terrierifically stunning birds in their natural habitat. 

Fido may join you on your walks through the park or even just to enjoy a picnic lunch. Be sure to pack a bag from home with all of the things you might need including snacks, drinking water, and cleanup bags. 

If water sports are more your cup of tea, why not bring along a kayak or canoe and hit the open waters of the Anacostia River with your main canine squeeze along for company? Bathrooms are available for the pawblic to use in the Visitor's Center.
