KUA Cumbie Canine Court is basically the resort of dog parks. Situated on a 6.3-acre island, this dog park contains pretty much everything you could want to expose your dog to. The park was named in honor of community volunteer Fred H. Cumbie, who served for over 10 years on the board of directors of the Kissimmee Utility Authority, Florida’s sixth largest municipal electric utility.
There are two main fenced areas separating the larger canines from the smaller ones. Both of these areas have water fountains complete with ground stations that your dog can drink from, as well as shade trees so they don’t get overheated. There’s also a “paws” table. This is a grooming station where your dog can take a break while you get him cleaned up before departure. Brushes are always available for free on these tables. There are also specialized “owner benches” with built-in dog beds below each row, which provide an additional shady spot.
An agility course lines the southern end of the park that contains a wide array of equipment like an adjustable jump bar challenge, elevated dog walk, hoop jump, a “King of the Hill” A-frame, weave posts, and a crawl tunnel. These are free for your canines to use, or available for rental in conjunction with lessons offered through the parks resource office. If you’re looking to just take your dog for a short walk, there are 3 paved trails that run the length of the full acreage. These trails are stocked with trash receptacles and bag dispensers, in case your dog has to take care of some business.
KUA Cumbie Canine Park provides free parking, as well as free doggie obedience classes throughout the summer months. If interested, more information is available at the official KUA Cumbie website. Please remember that all dogs who enter the park must be licensed and up to date on all vaccinations. Also, while the park opens at sunrise, it isn't fully staffed until 10 AM each day.
