The Lake George Dog Park is an off-leash dog park in Lake George, New York. The dog park is not in the city itself but tucked away in an isolated area of forested land which is reachable via a dirt track known as Transfer Road. To get to the dog park, it's necessary to travel one mile past the intersection of Route 9, or Canada Street, and Route 9N to find the turnoff to Transfer Road.Â
Google imagery is a godsend when going to this dog park for the first time especially for those from out of state. Do the Lake George pooches mind being stuck out in the boondocks? Not one little bit so long as they get some off-leash time. There are places to park vehicles close to the dog park.
This dog park in Lake George shouldn't be confused with Lake George Leash Free Dog Beach which is a lot easier to find as it is by the shore. This dog park is in the countryside and surrounded by trees with no beach in sight. What there is at this dog park is some great open spaces, one each for large and small breeds, where they can kick up grass rather than sand to their little heart's content.Â
It might be a bit sparse in places, but no-ones heard them complaining about it yet. Small dogs need to measure less than fourteen inches high to be classed as miniature enough to use the toy breed off-leash area. The dog park might be well out of the way, but it has still been well furnished with everything dogs enjoy.Â
There's some great agility equipment for them to train on, tunnels and rocks to climb. No, they can't dig or build sandcastles, but they still have a good time. The only thing pet parents are requested to do is keep an eye on their dog and pick up poop. Not much to ask when they've got a great dog park for their furbabies to play in.
