Lake of the Isles Dog Park

The City of Minneapolis is renowned for the care and maintenance of their city parks and facilities; this dog park is no exception. The Lake of the Isles Dog Park is a broad swath of land, well cared for and well worth the visit for residents of the nearby area and travelers who find this park on their route.

The Lake of the Isles Dog Park is quite a large canine play space, with some massive open spaces and large trees dotting the area. The trees give a great deal of shade for the patrons of the park, and you can find benches and picnic tables often placed underneath for seating in the natural shade.

More trees line the park, creating a makeshift perimeter around the area. This dog park is fenced and can contain even the most rambunctious of runners. The ground here is dirt and mulch; the mulch helps prevent your canine from getting dirty and the land from turning too much into a mud pit after a heavy rain. The effort is only partially beneficial, and after a heavy rain, you can be sure your canine will leave here quite muddy.

For all the benefits of this park, it lacks some of the amenities you may find at other dog parks. There is no running water here; you will need to bring your water and dish to keep your canine hydrated. This also means there are no restrooms for the human counterparts. Poop bags are available at the entrance to the dog park, and garbage cans are placed at the gate and emptied regularly.

The Lake of the Isles Dog Park is lit and is open after sunset into the evening hours. They are open year round, though winter in Minnesota means the park gets a lot less traffic during those cold and snowy winter days. Overall, this dog park makes for an excellent place to bring your canine to get some exercise and socialize with some other canines.
