Leita Thompson Memorial Dog Park

Located in the Leita Thompson Memorial Park, the Leita Thompson Memorial Dog Park is a public dog park in Roswell, Georgia. In addition to the dog park, the scenic Leita Thompson Memorial Park is home to a variety of different hiking and jogging trails, a lake and a recreation center.

The one-acre Leita Thompson Memorial Dog Park consists of two separate areas. The large dog area is approximately .75 acres in size. It is sloped and has a simple, rectangular open space layout. Since it is on an incline, it is great for active dogs or those who love running up or down the hill trying to outrun their canine buddies or chasing after balls during games of fetch. 

The small dog area is .25 acres in size but still provides an adequate amount of space for pooches to socialize and enjoy some leash-free fun. The dog park’s surface consists of grass, soil, and some wood chips so owners need to be careful if they decide to bring their dogs to the park on a rainier day as it can get muddy and slippery. Don't forget to bring a towel to help prevent a messy car on the way back home. 

Though there are plenty of trees around the park, there aren't many within the off-leash area. However, since the park is sloped, some of that shade carries through. The dog park is equipped with waste bag dispensers and trash cans so please make sure you pick up after Fido if you visit this great park. Water fountains are also available and provide the much needed human and canine hydration, especially during the summer days. 

Though there aren’t any restrooms nearby, there is a porta potty located right by the dog park. The Leita Thompson Memorial dog park is quite popular. However, many dog owners in the community come to the memorial park for the trails that they are allowed to take their dogs on - as long as they are leashed!
