With plenty of free parking, you'll find this northern boundary of Monterey Bay along West Cliff Drive. Once here, you can take in the sights from the parking area, such as the surfers, the Mark Abbott Memorial Lighthouse which houses the surfing museum, or the beach below.
Got a hiker pup? Take your dog to the interior of the park on the north side of West Cliff Drive where hiking trails abound! Trails for hiking, running or biking weave through trees and along vast grassy areas on the cliff above the beach. Up here, your dog can hike alongside you anywhere throughout the park on leash.
For the beach lovers, head down to the beach on the south side of West Cliff Drive. The beach, which is also called Its Beach, is ideal for boogie boarding, surfing, swimming, and other water sports. Many people who frequent this area also enjoy fishing in this beautiful section of Monterey Bay. Dogs are welcome to romp in the sand and surf anytime on leash.
Snacks and drinks are available at the on site Steamer Lane Supply. In addition to food and beverages, Steamer Lane Supply also sells a variety of surfing accessories. The shop is conveniently located near the bathrooms. Fresh water is easily accessible for dogs, so bring a bottle and a bowl, and there are also picnic areas and outdoor showers. Do be sure to bring clean-up bags and stoop and scoop anywhere inside the park and beach.
For picturesque views and some interesting historical attractions, the Lighthouse Field State Beach is where its at for Santa Cruz pups and their humans!
