This park provides breathtaking views of the North Pacific Ocean and the famed surfer locale known as Steamer Lane. Visitors can feast their eyes on amateur and professional surfers practicing their craft as well as enjoy viewing sea lions and Monarch butterflies in their respective seasons.
Snacks and drinks are available via the concession stand operator Steamer Lane Supply. In addition to food and beverages, Steamer Lane Supply also sells a variety of surfing accessories. The shop is conveniently located near the bathrooms which are available for use by the public.
The beach and hiking trails are fully accessible to people with dogs. It is required by park officials that all dogs be kept on a leash that is a maximum of six feet in length at all times.
Visitors to the beach can make use of the many different hiking trails for walking, running, or even biking with their dogs. The beach itself is ideal for boogie boarding, surfing, swimming, and other water sports. Many people who frequent this area also enjoy fishing in this beautiful section of Monterey Bay.
Fresh water is easily accessible for dogs, and there are also picnic areas and outdoor showers available for public use.
While poop bags are not provided on site, park officials require all dog owners to provide their own for the pick up and proper removal of all canine waste materials.
This beach is a beloved area for many and has earned the reputation of being the favored dog park amongst locals.
For picturesque views and some interesting historical attractions, Lighthouse Field State Beach is worth a visit.
